Since 2004, I have served as a professor, administrator, and educator in higher education institutions. My work has focused on developing a sustainable research portfolio and a rich teaching repertoire, while contributing actively in service. Currently, I am a Senior Lecturer in Computer Science at the Department of Applied Computing and Engineering, Cardiff School of Technologies, Cardiff Metropolitan University (Cardiff Met).
Between 2019 and 2022, I was an Associate Professor at the Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Department, Faculty of Engineering, Beirut Arab University (BAU), Debbieh, Lebanon. In addition, I was the Head of the Intelligent Hardware (iHW) Research Group. At BAU, I was a member of the Scientific Committees, of two projects co-funded by Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union, namely Developing Curricula for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (DeCAIR), and Enhancing Teaching, Learning and Graduate Employability through University-Enterprise Cooperation (ELEGANT). BAU is a private non-profit institution for higher education that has a relatively long history and a substantial presence in Lebanon and the Middle East. BAU is committed, since its foundation in 1960, to deliver and promote quality education, research, and community service. BAU offers 47 undergraduate programs and 95 graduate programs within its ten different faculties.
Besides my professorial position, I was a Visiting Professor at the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS), University of Ottawa (uOttawa), Canada, during Summer 2018 and Spring 2019. Moreover, I was a Visiting Professor at the ECE Department, College of Engineering, Rafik Hariri University (RHU), Mechref, Lebanon during Spring and Summer 2019.
Between 2009 and 2019, I was an Associate Professor of Computer Engineering at the ECE Department, American University of Kuwait (AUK), Kuwait. Between 2009 and 2016, I served as the Founding Chairperson/Program Lead of the ECE Department. AUK is a private institution that partners with Dartmouth College in the USA. Dartmouth and AUK have worked closely together since 2003 under a Memorandum of Understanding that facilitated advisory, consultative, and cooperative projects.
Between 2006 and 2009, I was both Chairperson and Assistant Professor in the ECE Department at the College of Engineering, Dhofar University (DU) in Oman; DU had a partnership with the American University of Beirut (AUB) in Lebanon. The role of AUB covered three functions, namely, the management of DU; design of academic programs, bylaws and procedures; and monitoring quality assurance. I joined DU after spending two years in Lebanon as a lecturer at AUB, Lebanese American University (LAU), Beirut Arab University (BAU), and RHU.
In August 2004, I completed my Ph.D. degree at London South Bank University (LSBU), London, United Kingdom. At LSBU, I was a member of the Institute for Computing Research.
At present, I am an ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) Program Evaluator (PEV), USA. In addition, I'm a member of the International Evaluators and Experts Group, Turkish Higher Education Quality Council (THEQC), Turkey. I'm a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (SMIEEE). I'm also a member of the American Society of Engineering Education (MASEE) and the Order of Engineers and Architects of Beirut. Between 2014 and 2018, I was the Founding Counselor of the AUK IEEE Student Branch. In May 2014, I won the Faculty Mentorship Award at AUK.

My main undergraduate and postgraduate teaching tracks include reconfigurable computing, hardware/software co-design, embedded systems design, microprocessors and interfacing, computer organization and architecture, and digital logic design.
